Background History

Department of Zoology was established in 2012 for Bachelor of Science courses at Mandalar College. Dr. Nwe Nwe Thein (2012-2015), lecturer was appointed as the head of zoology department. After that, Dr. Naing Ko Ko Chit, lecturer (2015-2016) was appointed as the head of the department. In 2016, Mandalar College was promoted to Mandalar Degree College, Dr. Tin Tin Mar Aye was appointed as professor and the head of zoology department Mandalar Degree College was upgraded to Mandalar University and opened on (1-9-2020). And then Dr. Ni Ni Soe, associate professor and Dr. Thet War Kyaw Myint, professor (2020-2021) were appointed as heads of zoology department. At the present, professor Dr. Khin Aye Aye Htun is taking as the head of zoology department.

Our vision is to develop the transformative and value-based immersive zoological learning, teaching and research.

Mission

Our missions are to provide practical and theoretical knowledge of basic zoological education, develop personality and skills among students through seminars, quiz, group discussion etc, to build up appreciation on the nature among students and to train the students to respond the needs of society through broad education in the different areas of Zoology.

Primary Academic Goals

The primary goals of the Department of Zoology, Mandalar University are to impart quality education in the subject of Zoology as a basic science which will inculcate the value based education and entrepreneurial skills among the students, to become available the students for self-employment in various applied branches of Zoology, to have abroad knowledge and understanding about the life science and natural science.

Future Plans of Zoology Department

Students are provided by quality education through a working knowledge of fundamental principles in different branch of Zoology. Educational planning o Zoology is a process in which each student is involved in self assessments, exploring career alterative and making decisions that are personally relevant for the present and the future. The teachers and students are facilitated in the higher education, research in Zoology, inculcated the spirit o resource conservation love for nature by this future plans.
