Background History

Geography at special level has been started in the Mandalar College since 2012 to up Mandalar Degree College.

Geography Department dedicates for the dissemination of geographical knowledge, on the country of Myanmar and the world, by which one can understand the affairs of the world and the country. Geography as a discipline can be split broadly into two main subsidiary field: human geography and physical geography.

Human geography is a branch of geography that focuses on the study of patterns and processes that shape the human society. It encompasses the human, political, cultural, social, and economic aspects.

Physical geography focuses on geography as an Earth science. It aims to understand the physical problems and the issues of lithosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, pedosphere, and global flora and fauna patterns (biosphere).

To this end, geography department strives to make everyone know geography.

  • By acquiring geographical knowledge one can manage or plan their respective work in future.

Mission

  • To develop knowledge and awareness about geography concept.
  • Students understand the spatial nature of geography and how each place or region is examined, analyzed, and compared with other places or regions.
  • To understand the physical and social problems of our environment.
