Background History

Department of chemistry was established in Mandalar College in 2012. Daw Tin Myint Yi, lecturer was appointed as the first Head of the Department of Chemistry, Madalar college from 2012 to 2014. The lecturer, Daw Than Than Aye worked as the Head of Department of Chemistry between 2014 and 2016. From 2016 until 2017, Dr. Lwin Lwin Myint, professor presided over the Department. Dr. Tin Tin Mya, professor received a variety of responsibilities of the Department from 2017 to 2019. Dr. Swe Swe Win, associated professor at Mandalar University was handed over the duties of the Department from 30.6.2019 to 30.11.2019. Between 2.12.2019 and 9.9.2021, Dr. Mi Mi Hlaing, professor took Head of Department. Professor, Dr. Thida Kyaw has served as the dean of the Department of Chemistry at Mandalar University from September 20,2021 until today.

Vision

The aim of the Department of Chemistry at Mandalar University is dedicated to teach the students with a focus on chemistry, to raise the awareness of the importance of chemistry in everyday life and to foster the educated young people who are needed for the nation.

Mission

Students majoring in chemistry at the Department of Chemistry at will be able to learn the knowledge of chemistry and how the materials they come into contact with in their daily lives are related to chemistry through lectures and practices. In addition to, by teaching them to understand the environmental chemistry, they can think logically and correctly, gain knowledge and experiences, improve self-confidence. Moreover, we hope not only to create their lives but also to live flexibly and simply.

Primary Academic Goals

The Faculty of Department of Chemistry is working towards producing quality, moral and disciplined students who are capable of contributing to their nation. Through continued improvement of the research activities related to the major, teachers and students at the Department shall be committed to conducting research with the aim of improving humanity.

Future Plans of the Department of Chemistry

The aim is to be able to create students more and more talented and capable of good quality and discipline. The teachers have also responsibilities for providing quality education and carrying out the researches relating with chemistry.
